Children with disabilities in Haiti can be written off by society as worthless, with many abandoned by desperate parents unable to cope financially and emotionally. It’s a sad reality that we’re passionate about changing. The ‘Maison de Benediction’ opened in 2009 and is a pioneering programme that works with families to provide the support they need to stay together. Our respite home provides 25 places for children with a wide range of disabilities to come and stay for part of the week. During this time, they take part in a range of activities and treatments to aid their physical and emotional development, while their parents have more time to work and earn money for their family. The ‘Maison’ is entirely funded by donations relying on the commitment and generosity of our amazing Beni Sponsors. Just £15 a month would help support these children.
