UGANDA:

Uganda is a stunning country, famous for its beautiful safari parks and the river Nile.  However, it also hosts the largest refugee crisis in Africa, with refugees from South Sudan and DRC.  

Since 2017 we’ve been responding to the refugee crisis in Uganda through a range of projects.  These activities have included disability care, especially around wheelchair provision, and a range of health and nutrition projects including tackling severe and acute malnutrition.  We’re also responding with a number of other emergency relief activities including agriculture livelihoods and improving refugee schools.  The majority of our volunteering opportunities in Uganda will be focused around these key areas and are typically based in northern Uganda in either Yumbe or Moyo. 

We require volunteers to respectfully work alongside our Ugandan team, learning from one another and serving their needs.  Our heart is to equip and empower local capacity so there is a heavy emphasis on teaching and building to that end.  We love welcoming people of all faiths and none to volunteer, but volunteers should be comfortable working within HHAs Christian ethos.
