HHA is privileged to have a small but amazing team of staff and volunteers who work passionately to fulfil our aims and objectives. In addition to those listed below, HHA also supports a larger group of local staff in East Africa and Haiti. The HHA East Africa team includes community based rehabilitation workers, agriculture extension workers, cleaners, security guards and drivers. In Haiti, HHA supports the salaries of the Maison de Benediction staff, community based rehabilitation workers and various other roles at our partner hospital, HCBH.
CEO & Co-Founder
Carwyn co-founded HHA following a visit to Haiti in 2005 and has since lead the charity, including managing grants as an implementing partner on behalf of DFID, UN, USAID and others. Carwyn also sits on the board of End Poverty 2030 and HHA US.
Joined HHA in 2015 to head up our finances, following various other roles in the Finance sector. Ransford is a Chartered Certified Accountant and helps manage HHA’s day-to-day financial tasks, as well as broader strategic decisions.
East Africa Director
Jemina has a long history in fundraising and third sector senior management in the UK and Europe, and she has also worked as a fundraising consultant delivering growth and strategy development for small charities. Jemina has worked for a range of organisations and causes, but her specialist areas are international development and gender. Alongside working for HHA she currently heads a small international development charity delivering projects in Southern India.
Trusts & Grants Manager
Kuni rejoined HHA in 2022 for a second stint leading on our trusts ans grants fundraising. She is an experienced grants writer having won and managed large institutional in the past for HHA and other charities. Kuni is working on building our portfolio of trust funders in the UK and the US.
Fundraising & Partnerships Manager
Suzie joined HHA in 2021 having previously been part of the fundraising team at a UK based international disaster response charity. Prior to this, she spent 12 years of her career in the corporate sector with a FTSE 250 property company. Following a visit as a volunteer to Haiti back in 2017, where she first became aware of HHA and their work, she was inspired to make the move into the charity sector. Suzie brings many years of experience in developing and maintaining relationships with international brands and has driven year on year growth for businesses. She is responsible for developing and maintaining HHA’s partnerships across the globe, building fundraising strategies and working closely with major donors.
Joined HHA in 2015 as the Fundraising Coordinator, Tim now looks after various operational and logistical matters, such as IT, shipping and procurement.
Haiti/US Country Director
Michael lives in Missouri and is the US/Haiti Country Director for Hope Health Action, traveling to Haiti multiple times a year. Outside of work he is an accomplished designer having managed his own marketing company while assisting HHA with various design projects. In addition, Michael is a freelance jazz artist/clinician and currently operates a warehouse and logistics company with his wife, Melissa.
Haiti Rehabilitation Manager
Brooke is a Physiotherapist from New Orleans, USA, who joined HHA as a volunteer to manage and develop our range of disability projects in Haiti in 2021, but is now employed to head up all disability rehabilitation activities at our partner hospital, HCBH. Brooke loves baking, and all sorts of outdoor pursuits.
Haiti Operations Coordinator
Parker recently joined the Haiti team from the US as a long term volunteer with his wife, Abby. He is leading on all things operations including looking after the volunteer village and its visitors.
Abby recently joined the Haiti team from the US as a long term volunteer with her husband, Parker. She is a communications expert and is taking the lead on gathering and sharing stories from the Haiti projects.
Chris joined the Haiti team in 2022 as a long term volunteer with his wife, Rosie. They are from the UK and will be with us in Haiti for the next year. Chris has a background in special needs education so will be working closely with the Maison de Benediction.
Rosie joined the Haiti team in 2022 as a long term volunteer with her husband, Chris. They are from the UK and will be with us in Haiti for the next year. Rosie is a nurse so will be working closely with various hospital departments to share ideas and improve processes.
Chair Person of East Africa Board
Pastor Edward is South Sudanese and leads our East Africa board along with various other important roles, such as President of the Baptist Convention of South Sudan. Edward is passionate about developing healthcare for the people of South Sudan through his work with HHA and other relief organisations.
East Africa Programme Manager
Isaac started working for HHA East Africa in 2018 as a Field Officer and has since become our Programme Manager for all HHA East Africa operations. Isaac is working towards a degree in Public Administration and Management, and is humbled to serve God through supporting persons living with disabilities. He is grateful to put smiles into their lives and to be part of the HHA family vision.
James Herbert Elaju
James is an accounts professional with over 8 years of experience in all aspects of non-profit operations including roles at World Vision Uganda and Cure Children’s Hospital International. James joined HHA in 2021 and leads on the financial and governance elements of the HHA EA operations. James is committed to seeing lives transformed through his work.
Joshua is an Accountant for HHA EA supporting the Finance Manager. Joshua is currently working towards the next level of accountancy qualifications and values team work, dedication and excellence.
East Africa - Senior Driver
Anthony is the senior driver and watchman for HHA. His family fled the South Sudan war in 2017 and have since been living in Bidibidi Refugee Settlement, one of the largest settlements in the world. Anthony is an experienced driver and trustworthy watchman who loves spending time with our visiting teams and helping out wherever help is needed.
East Africa Physiotherapist
Mattia is a Physiotherapist by profession and joined the team at the New Hope Disability Centre in 2021. Mattia leads the physiotherapy department and coordinates all activities carried out within the department and externally with other related developmental partners. Mattia also loves travelling around the world exploring new ideas, skills and knowledge.
East Africa Prosthetics & Orthotics Manager
Emma is managing the P&O department on an interim basis, based at our Disability Centre in BidiBidi Refugee Settlement. He studied Orthopaedic Technology at Mulago Paramedical School in Kampala and joined HHA in October 2021 to serve people living with disability through the creation of artificial limbs and training to use them.
Pita Kadija (Agnes)
East Africa Wheelchair Technician
Agnes is South Sudanese, originally a teacher by profession, but now also a wheelchair technician. Agnes worked for HHA as a Community Based Rehabilitation worker for 3 years before becoming a wheelchair technician in 2021. She is now also acting as the Manager of the CBR team. Agnes is passionate about serving people with disabilities and loves to work in the community.
Moses is South Sudanese and now working for HHA in the New Hope Disability Centre as a wheelchair technician.
Lumago Charles Soro Joseph
East Africa Nutrition & Agriculture Project Manager
Charles started working for HHA in March 2022 and has more than six years’ experience working as a Project Manager, managing food security, agriculture livelihood projects and emergency aid food distributions to vulnerable groups of people living both in Uganda and South Sudan. He is very happy to have the opportunity to join a vibrant team in HHA who share ideas and overcome challenges together.
East Africa Bookkeeper / Administrator
Hellen has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Management from Ugandan Christine University, and a diploma and certificate in Computerised Accounting from Multi-tech Business School Kampala. Hellen currently works as the Nutrition Administrator and Book-keeper for HHA East Africa handling the finance, budgeting and accountabilities for the Emergency Disability Nutrition Agriculture Livelihood Project.
East Africa Senior Agronomist
Richard joined HHA as senior agronomist in 2022, having completed a bachelors of science in general agriculture from Uganda Martyrs University and qualified as an Agricultural Scientist. Richard has a wealth of experience in various agriculture and livelihoods roles and is passionate about sharing his agricultural knowledge to improve the lives of the most vulnerable.
Robert Rapsy Ogwang
East Africa Nutrition Officer
Robert holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Human Nutrition from Makerere University Kampala and now works as the Nutrition Officer for HHA East Africa under our Nutrition and Livelihoods project. Robert is an experienced Community and Clinical Nutritionist with a strong history of working with non-profit organisations and public authorities. He is passionate about serving people living with disabilities and happy to be part of the HHA EA family offering Nutrition Technical Support for the improvement of nutritional status, health and well-being of vulnerable people.

Amazing Grace School Education Coordinator
Cons is an information technology specialist who learnt his profession at Cavendish University, Uganda. He joined HHA as a volunteer to manage and coordinate all HHA projects in Amazing Grace School.
Aputi Manashi Andrea
South Sudan Community Based Rehabilitation Worker
Andrea has recently joined HHA as our first South Sudan based member of staff. He works in the region of Kajo-Keji identifying the most vulnerable in need of disability and nutrition support liaising with our mobile team based in northern Uganda.
